The South West has very different design needs at each end. Bristol is a major centre for aerospace, with Airbus, Rolls-Royce and GKN Aerospace operating around Filton and a deep supply chain behind them. Those suppliers need production drawings, 3D models in STEP format and renders for proposals. Bristol and Bath also have a strong creative, film and animation sector, which sometimes needs extra hands for illustration or motion graphics.

Cheltenham is home to GCHQ, and a cyber security cluster has grown around it. Cyber firms want brands that feel trustworthy without the usual padlock clichés, plus diagrams that explain technical services to buyers. Swindon has Nationwide's headquarters and a large logistics sector along the M4. Exeter hosts the Met Office, Plymouth has the naval base at Devonport and a strong marine sector, and Somerset has the Hinkley Point C construction project.

Further west, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and the Cotswolds rely on tourism, hospitality, farming and food, with many small owner-run businesses.
