> dijitul shoots product photography for UK sellers from £25 + VAT per image: pure white cutouts that meet Amazon's main image rules, plus lifestyle and detail shots for Shopify, eBay and Etsy. We photograph on location at your premises, deliver sized JPEGs and PNGs, and quote travel beyond Mansfield and Nottinghamshire.

Price: From £25 + VAT per image

## Problems this solves

- Amazon flagged your main image because the background is not pure white
- Your phone photos make white products look blue and black products look grey
- Every product on your site is shot at a different angle and size
- Shoppers ask questions the photos should have answered, like how big it is
- Reflective packaging shows the room, the window and you holding the phone
- Customers return items because the colour on screen did not match

## Key facts

- From £25 + VAT per image; the fixed price depends on product size, finish and retouching
- Amazon main images: pure white background, RGB 255, 255, 255, product filling about 85% of the frame
- Shopify recommends square 2048 × 2048 px product images
- Etsy recommends at least 2000 px on the shortest side, 4:3 or 1:1
- eBay needs 500 px minimum on the longest side and recommends 1600 px or more for zoom
- Cutout (white background) and lifestyle (in use, in context) sets from the same visit
- Shot on location at your premises; travel beyond Mansfield and Nottinghamshire quoted

## Amazon main image rules, checked

Amazon is the strictest marketplace, and a listing with a non-compliant main image can be suppressed from search. According to Amazon's Seller Central product image requirements, as summarised by Jungle Scout this year, the main image must:

- sit on a **pure white background, RGB 255, 255, 255**. Off-white (for example 245, 245, 245) is a common reason for rejection.
- show the product filling at least **85% of the frame**, without touching or being cut off by the edge (jewellery has an exception)
- be at least **1000 pixels** on its longest side, which is what enables zoom
- be a real photograph of the product, not a drawing, render or mock-up
- carry no text, logos, borders, colour blocks or watermarks
- show the product out of its packaging, and only what is included in the sale

Secondary images can show lifestyle scenes, infographics, scale and packaging. We check the white value of every main image in Photoshop before delivery, rather than trusting it by eye.

## Shopify, eBay and Etsy image guidance

Each platform crops and zooms differently, so one export does not suit all of them.

| Platform | Published guidance |

| Shopify | Square 2048 × 2048 px recommended; at least 800 × 800 px for zoom; up to 4472 × 4472 px and 20 MB |
| eBay | At least 500 px on the longest side; 1600 px or more recommended for zoom; up to 12 MB; no added borders |
| Etsy | At least 2000 px on the shortest side; 4:3 landscape or 1:1 square; the first photo becomes the thumbnail |

Shopify themes generally expect a consistent ratio, so mixing square and portrait images makes collection pages look ragged. Etsy thumbnails crop to the centre, so we leave space around the product. For eBay, a clean neutral background works best because added borders are not allowed. If you sell across all of them, we shoot once and export separate sets.

## Cutout or lifestyle: you need both

A **cutout** is the product alone on white or transparent. It is what marketplaces require for the main image, what comparison shoppers expect, and what your designer needs for catalogues, adverts and packaging mock-ups. It answers "what exactly am I buying?".

A **lifestyle** shot shows the product in use: the mug on a desk, the bag on a shoulder, the tool in a hand. It answers "how big is it, and is it for me?". Lifestyle shots work for social media, website banners and Amazon secondary images, and they carry your brand better than a white background ever can.

A sensible set for a single product is one main cutout, two or three angles, a detail shot, a scale shot and one or two lifestyle images. Because we shoot on location, lifestyle scenes can use your own premises, or a setting you arrange, which keeps them believable.

## Colour accuracy and returns

Wrong colour is one of the most avoidable reasons for returns. We shoot with a grey card or colour reference in the first frame of each set-up and correct to it, so a navy jumper stays navy. Files are delivered in sRGB, the colour space browsers and phones expect. Very glossy, chrome or glass items need controlled reflections and often some retouching; that time is priced at our retouching rate of £45 an hour + VAT and included in the fixed quote.

## How a product shoot works

- Send a product list with SKUs, sizes and the platforms you sell on.
- We quote per image, with any travel beyond Mansfield and Nottinghamshire included.
- We set up at your premises, shoot the cutouts and lifestyle scenes, and you can see frames on a laptop as we go.
- We edit, check white values and dimensions, and deliver files named by SKU.

Products should be clean, de-labelled where needed and steamed if they are fabric. If you are launching a range, pair the shoot with digital advert design so the images go straight into campaigns. Ready to start? Ask for a quote.

## What you get

- Main images on pure white (RGB 255, 255, 255) as JPEG
- Transparent-background PNG cutouts for your designer
- Lifestyle and in-use images showing scale and context
- Detail and close-up shots of texture, stitching, labels or ports
- Square 2048 × 2048 px versions for Shopify and Amazon
- Files named by SKU so they upload in the right place
- A written usage licence covering marketplaces, website and ads

## FAQs

### How much does product photography cost?

dijitul charges from £25 + VAT per image for product photography. The fixed price depends on the size and finish of the products, how many angles you need and how much retouching is involved. Reflective or very small items take longer. Travel beyond Mansfield and Nottinghamshire is added to the quote before you book.

### What background does Amazon require for the main image?

Amazon's main image must be on a pure white background, RGB 255, 255, 255, with the product filling about 85% of the frame and no text, logos or watermarks. It must be a real photo of the product out of its packaging, at least 1000 pixels on the longest side. dijitul checks each main image's white values before delivery.

### What size should Shopify product photos be?

Shopify recommends square images at 2048 × 2048 pixels, with at least 800 × 800 pixels needed for zoom. Keeping every product at the same ratio stops collection pages looking uneven. dijitul exports Shopify-ready square JPEGs alongside your Amazon, eBay and Etsy sets from the same shoot.

### Can you photograph products at our warehouse?

Yes. dijitul shoots on location, so we set up a white background and lighting at your warehouse, shop or unit. This avoids couriering stock and lets us shoot lifestyle images in a real setting. Travel beyond the Mansfield and Nottinghamshire area is quoted in advance.

### What is the difference between cutout and lifestyle product photos?

A cutout shows the product alone on white or transparent, which marketplaces need for main images and designers need for layouts. A lifestyle photo shows the product in use or in context, which helps buyers judge scale and suits social media. dijitul recommends a mix for each product.

### Do I get transparent PNG files?

Yes, on request. dijitul supplies transparent-background PNG cutouts alongside white JPEGs, so your designer can place products on coloured backgrounds, packaging mock-ups or adverts without cutting them out again. PNGs are larger files, so we use JPEGs for marketplace uploads.
