  • You need a version for Facebook as well as the printed one

What makes a flyer work

People decide quickly whether a flyer goes on the fridge or in the recycling. In that moment they need to see three things: what it is, why it matters to them, and what to do next. dijitul builds every flyer around one main message, one offer and one clear call to action, with your phone number or web address large enough to read at arm's length.

We use your brand colours and fonts so the flyer matches your van, your shopfront and your website. If you don't have a proper logo file yet, logo design starts from £150 + VAT.

A roll fold wraps panels inside each other, so the panel that tucks in must be 2 to 3 mm narrower than the others. A z-fold zig-zags, so all panels can be equal. A gatefold has two outer flaps that meet in the middle and are each half the width of the centre panel. We get the exact panel sizes from your printer's template so the folds land in the right place.

Getting the print details right

Every flyer is set up in CMYK with 3 mm bleed on all edges and text kept at least 4 mm inside the trim. On folded leaflets we also keep text clear of the fold lines, because a crease straight through a phone number is easy to miss on screen. Photos are checked at 300 dpi at their printed size. Small text is set in 100% black so it prints crisp.

Paper matters for cost as much as feel. For a door drop of 5,000 leaflets, 130 to 150 gsm silk is the usual choice. For a flyer handed out at an event or left on a counter, 350 gsm card feels more substantial and survives a pocket. Uncoated stock suits anything people need to write on, such as a booking form or loyalty card.

QR codes are worth adding if they lead somewhere useful, such as a booking page or an offer page that matches the flyer. We print them in solid black on a light background, keep a clear quiet margin around them, and avoid making them tiny: roughly 2 cm square is a sensible minimum for a code scanned from a hand-held flyer. If you run several drops, a different web address or code per area tells you which one worked.

Leaflet copy that gets a response

  • Lead with the reader's problem, not your company name.
  • Keep the main headline under ten words.
  • Use a single offer with a clear end date if it is time-limited.
  • Put the phone number on both sides.
  • Add a web address or QR code that goes to a matching page, not your home page.
  • Use three short benefit points rather than a paragraph.

If you are not sure what to say, we will suggest a structure and edit your copy to fit. For anything larger, see brochure design.

Frequently asked questions

How much does flyer design cost in the UK?

dijitul designs flyers and leaflets from £95 + VAT. Folded leaflets, multiple versions and extra sides are quoted as a fixed price before we start. Printing is separate, and we can arrange it if you don't have a printer.

What size flyer should I use for a door drop?

A5 (148 × 210 mm) and DL (99 × 210 mm) are the most common door-drop sizes in the UK. A5 gives more room for photos and an offer; DL is cheaper to print and fits standard envelopes and display racks. dijitul can design both from one brief.

What is the difference between a roll fold and a z-fold?

Both turn an A4 sheet into a six-panel DL leaflet. A roll fold wraps panels inside each other, so one panel must be slightly narrower. A z-fold zig-zags like a concertina, so panels are equal. dijitul builds the artwork on the correct panel widths for whichever fold you choose.

What paper weight should my flyers be?

For door drops, 130 to 170 gsm silk is common and keeps print and distribution costs down. For flyers handed out or left on counters, 250 to 350 gsm card feels sturdier. dijitul notes the recommended stock on the spec we send with your print file.

Can I use the flyer design on social media?

Yes. Alongside the print PDF, dijitul supplies RGB image versions sized for social posts and email. If you want a full set of matching posts, see our social media graphics service, from £99 + VAT.
