What social media graphics we design
Social media graphics are the still images that carry your brand on each platform: single feed posts, multi-slide carousels, quote cards, offer and event announcements, story frames, reel and Shorts covers, profile pictures and the wide cover banners at the top of your pages. dijitul designs all of these, built from your logo, colours and fonts so every post looks like it came from the same business.
Most clients start with a social media graphics pack from £99 + VAT: a set of designs for the platforms you actually use. If you want something you can keep reusing, we can turn the pack into editable social media templates. If your brand itself needs work first, start with logo design or a brand identity, because social graphics only look consistent when the brand underneath them is settled.
Current image sizes by platform (checked October 2026)
Platforms change their specs often, so we check them at the start of each job. These are the sizes we design to as of 12 October 2026, with the source for each.
| Platform and placement | Size we design at | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram feed post (portrait) | 1080 x 1350 px (4:5), or 1080 x 1440 px (3:4) for an uncropped grid | Sked Social and Inro 2026 Instagram size guides, reflecting Instagram's move to a 3:4 profile grid |
| Facebook and Instagram feed ad | 1440 x 1800 px (4:5), JPG or PNG up to 30 MB | Meta Ads Guide |
| Instagram and Facebook Stories | 1440 x 2560 px (9:16) | Meta Ads Guide |
| LinkedIn link post image | 1200 x 627 px (1.91:1) | LinkedIn Help |
| LinkedIn Page cover and logo | 1512 x 256 px cover, 400 x 400 px logo, PNG or JPEG up to 3 MB | LinkedIn Help |
| X (Twitter) single image | 1600 x 900 px (16:9); photos up to 5 MB | X Help Center (file limits), common 16:9 practice |
| TikTok video and cover | 1080 x 1920 px (9:16); TikTok's ad minimum is 540 x 960 px | TikTok Ads Manager help centre |
| YouTube thumbnail | 16:9, minimum 640 px wide, 2 MB limit when uploading from mobile | YouTube Help |
| YouTube channel banner | 2048 x 1152 px minimum, text inside the central 1235 x 338 px, 6 MB or smaller | YouTube Help |
One practical change: Instagram now previews posts on your profile grid at 3:4 rather than square, so a 4:5 post loses a thin strip at each side on the grid. We keep headlines, faces and logos inside that central area so the post reads properly in the feed and on your profile.
Safe zones: why text gets hidden and how we stop it
Vertical formats are covered by the app's own buttons. Meta's Ads Guide asks you to keep roughly the top 14%, the bottom 35% and 6% at each side of a Story free of text and logos, because the profile name, captions and call-to-action button sit there. TikTok puts captions along the bottom and action buttons down the right, and publishes downloadable safe-zone overlays in its Ads Manager help centre.
We design every 9:16 graphic with those overlays switched on, so your offer, price or date never sits under a like button. For wide banners the problem is the opposite: LinkedIn Help warns that cover images can be cropped on different devices and recommends keeping important information in the centre. YouTube banners are the extreme case, since only the middle 1235 x 338 px of a 2048 x 1152 px image shows on every device.
File formats, colour and sharpness
Screens use RGB, so social graphics are built in RGB and exported in sRGB. A CMYK file made for print will often look dull or shifted once uploaded. If your designer only ever gave you print PDFs, that is usually why your posts look slightly off.
- PNG for graphics with text, flat colour and logos, because it keeps edges crisp.
- JPG for photo-led posts, where it keeps file sizes down.
- Exact pixel dimensions, so the platform does not rescale and soften your image.
- Readable text at phone size: short headlines, large type and enough contrast against the background.
For moving content, see motion graphics and social media video. For paid campaigns, the specs and approval rules are different again, so we cover those on our digital advert design page.
How a social graphics job runs
You tell us which platforms you post on, what the posts are for (launches, offers, recruitment, events, tips) and send any photos or copy you have. We confirm the sizes for each platform, agree a fixed price, then design a first set for you to comment on. Once approved, you receive exports for every size you need plus the editable source files, so the work isn't locked to us.
Because the work is digital, we design for businesses anywhere in the UK from our base in Mansfield. If you need fresh photography for your posts, our product photography and photography services are shot on location. See all our prices or ask for a quote.

Frequently asked questions
How much do social media graphics cost in the UK?
At dijitul, a social media graphics pack starts from £99 + VAT. The final fixed price depends on how many designs, platforms and sizes you need, and you get that price before we start. Larger or ongoing work is charged at our design rate of £45 an hour + VAT.
What size should an Instagram post be in 2026?
We design Instagram feed posts at 1080 x 1350 px (4:5), or 1080 x 1440 px (3:4) when an uncropped profile grid matters most. Instagram moved its profile grid to a 3:4 preview, so we keep key text and logos in the centre of every post.
Can you make one design that works on every platform?
Not well. Instagram favours portrait, LinkedIn link posts are 1.91:1 landscape, X suits 16:9 and Stories, Reels and TikTok are 9:16. dijitul designs one master layout, then adapts it for each platform so nothing important is cropped or hidden behind app buttons.
Will I get the editable files?
Yes. Alongside the PNG and JPG exports, dijitul supplies layered source files, usually Figma or Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator files, or Canva-editable designs if your team works in Canva. That way you can change dates, prices and photos yourself.
Why do my social media graphics look blurry?
Usually because the image was the wrong pixel size, so the platform rescaled and recompressed it, or because it was saved in CMYK for print. dijitul exports at each platform's exact dimensions in sRGB, using PNG for text-heavy graphics.
Can you match our existing logo and brand colours?
Yes. dijitul builds social graphics from your existing logo, colour codes and fonts, so posts match your website and print. If you only have a low-resolution logo, we can redraw it as a vector first, or quote for a refresh if the brand needs more work.
Can you design graphics for paid social ads too?
Yes. Paid placements have their own specs, such as Meta's recommended 1440 x 1800 px for feed ads and 1440 x 2560 px for Stories, plus safe zones for buttons. dijitul designs ad sets as a separate job, usually priced at £45 an hour + VAT.
