Sound familiar?

  • Your process takes three paragraphs to explain and people still ring to ask
  • Your annual figures are buried in a spreadsheet nobody opens
  • The charts in your report are Excel defaults in random colours
  • Your infographic is one tall image that's unreadable on a phone
  • Colour-coded charts mean nothing to colour-blind readers
  • You need the same graphic for the website, a slide and a printed leaflet

Key facts

  • Infographic design at £45 an hour + VAT, with a fixed quote before work starts
  • Built from your data and sources; we don't invent statistics
  • Supplied as SVG and PNG for web, PDF for print, and sized versions for social media
  • Print versions in CMYK at 300 dpi with 3 mm bleed; screen versions in RGB
  • Colour choices checked for colour-blind readers and text contrast
  • Long infographics split into carousel slides for Instagram and LinkedIn
  • A text version or alt text supplied so the content is accessible

What an infographic is good for

An infographic turns information that's hard to follow in text into something you can take in at a glance. The best uses are practical: how your service works in five steps, what happens after someone places an order, how your product compares with the alternatives, what your year looked like in numbers, or which option suits which customer.

We design several kinds:

  • Process and how-it-works diagrams for websites, proposals and onboarding packs.
  • Data visuals: bar, line and pie charts, single big-number panels and simple maps.
  • Timelines for company history, project plans or product roadmaps.
  • Comparisons and decision guides, such as "which package is right for you".
  • Safety and instruction graphics for staff, sites and products.

Before designing anything we ask one question: what should the reader understand or do after looking at it? A good infographic makes one point clearly. If you have three points, that's usually three graphics, or one graphic with three clearly separated panels, rather than everything competing on one page.

Accuracy first

An infographic is only as trustworthy as its numbers. We work from the figures and sources you supply, show the source on the graphic where it matters, and we don't add statistics of our own. We also avoid the tricks that make charts misleading: bar charts that don't start at zero, 3D pies that distort the slices, and icons scaled by height when area is what the eye reads.

If the data changes yearly, we build the chart so the numbers can be updated without redesigning the whole graphic. That's useful for annual reports and recurring board or investor packs.

Please send the original data, not just a screenshot of a chart. With the underlying numbers we can choose the clearest chart type and check that totals and percentages add up before anything is published.

Designing for phones, not just posters

The classic infographic is one very tall image. On a phone that means tiny text and endless scrolling, and on a website it's a single image that search engines and screen readers can't read. We usually design infographics as a set of panels instead:

  • On your website, each panel can sit beside real HTML text, which keeps the content readable and searchable.
  • On Instagram and LinkedIn, the panels become carousel slides, typically at 1080 x 1350 px.
  • In a presentation, each panel becomes a slide or a reusable chart.
  • For print, the panels reassemble into a poster or a page in a brochure.

For web we supply SVG where possible, which stays crisp at any size and is often smaller than a PNG for flat graphics.

Accessible colour and contrast

Around one in twelve men has some form of colour vision deficiency, according to the NHS, so colour alone shouldn't carry the meaning in a chart. We label data directly rather than relying on a colour key, add patterns or shapes where categories need to be told apart, and choose palettes that remain distinct in greyscale.

For text we aim for the contrast levels set out in WCAG 2.2, the web accessibility standard: at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and important graphical elements. We also supply alt text, or a short text version of the infographic, so screen reader users get the same information.

Price and file formats

Infographic design is charged at £45 an hour + VAT. We quote a fixed price based on how much information there is, how many charts and illustrations it needs, and how many versions (web, social, print) you want. You receive SVG and PNG for screens, a CMYK PDF with 3 mm bleed for print, social media cuts and the editable source files.

Infographics often sit inside other work, so see also presentation design, icon design and illustration. Ask for a quote.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an infographic cost in the UK?

dijitul designs infographics at £45 an hour + VAT and quotes a fixed price before starting. A simple process diagram takes less time than a data-heavy report graphic with custom illustration, so the price depends on content, number of charts and how many versions you need.

Can you design an infographic from our spreadsheet?

Yes. Send dijitul the spreadsheet and tell us what point the data should make. We pick the right chart types, design them to your brand and keep the figures exactly as supplied, with sources shown where they matter. We don't add statistics of our own.

What file formats will I get?

dijitul supplies SVG and PNG for websites, a print-ready PDF in CMYK with 3 mm bleed, social media sizes such as 1080 x 1350 px carousel slides, and the editable source files. Individual charts and icons are also supplied separately for reuse in presentations.

Are infographics bad for SEO?

A single large image with all the text inside it gives search engines very little to read. dijitul designs infographics as panels that sit alongside real HTML text on your page, and supplies alt text, so the content stays readable by search engines and screen readers.

Can you make our infographic work for colour-blind readers?

Yes. dijitul labels data directly instead of relying on a colour key, uses shapes or patterns where categories need separating, and checks text contrast against WCAG 2.2 levels of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and graphics.
